Jackson apartment stabbing lands Freehold man, 19, a decade in prison

Jaden Thompson admitted to attacking a woman at the Paragon Apartments in 2025 while a toddler lay nearby, then fleeing police in Edison a day later.

JACKSON — A Freehold man who stabbed a woman in the abdomen at a Jackson apartment complex in 2025, with a toddler close by, was sentenced Oct. 23 to 10 years in state prison, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Jaden Thompson, 19, had admitted to attempted murder, child endangerment and eluding police when he pleaded guilty Aug. 31 before Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer, according to the office. Palmer imposed the decade-long term on the attempted murder count. Under the state's No Early Release Act, Thompson must serve 85 percent of it before parole is possible.

The judge added a five-year term on the endangerment count and another five years for eluding. All three terms will run concurrently, the office said.

The attack took place Nov. 27, 2025, at the Paragon Apartments on Larsen Road. Jackson police who responded to a reported stabbing found the wounded woman and a 19-month-old lying where the attack had happened, prosecutors said. The child was unharmed. The woman was treated at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and has since gone home.

Detectives concluded Thompson was responsible and had driven off in a black Hyundai Sonata. He was charged that day, and an alert went out through the National Crime Information Center system.

On Nov. 28, 2025, Edison police spotted the car. As officers moved to stop him, Thompson raced off, crashed, and ran before police caught him nearby, the office said. He was moved to the Ocean County Jail on Nov. 29, 2025, and has been held there ever since.

The prosecutor's office did not identify the woman, explain how she is connected to Thompson or the child, or offer a motive. Jersey Shore Online and The Lakewood Scoop also reported the sentence, and their accounts match the office's.
