Man, 24, dies after car hits him at Brick intersection

Investigators believe a southbound Ford Taurus struck the pedestrian late Oct. 24 at North Lake Shore Drive. The driver stopped and came back to the scene.

BRICK — A 24-year-old man was killed late Oct. 24 when a car hit him as he walked across Brick Boulevard at North Lake Shore Drive in Brick, Patch and The Lakewood Scoop reported.

Brick Township police were called to the intersection about 11:30 p.m. for a report that a pedestrian had been struck, both outlets reported, citing the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Officers arrived to find the man in the roadway with fatal injuries, according to The Lakewood Scoop.

Investigators believe a Ford Taurus traveling south struck the man as he crossed, the two outlets reported. Patch and The Lakewood Scoop both said the driver of the Taurus went a little farther along the road, stopped the car and returned to the scene on foot.

Neither the man who died nor the driver had been identified, and authorities had not released the victim's hometown, Patch and The Lakewood Scoop reported. Patch reported that Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced the crash.

The prosecutor's Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad is investigating along with Brick Township police, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office, according to both outlets. Neither outlet said whether any charges have been filed.
