Brooklyn man sentenced to 20 years for running drug operation in Atlantic City

Joseph Andrews, 42, pleaded guilty to making and selling drugs out of an Atlantic City property and a motel room, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

ATLANTIC CITY — A Brooklyn, New York, man who prosecutors said traveled to Atlantic City to make and sell cocaine and methamphetamine has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday.

Joseph Andrews, 42, was sentenced Oct. 28 by Superior Court Judge Donna M. Taylor. He had pleaded guilty April 27 to first-degree maintaining a narcotics production facility, first-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and second-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, under a plea agreement in which prosecutors recommended the 20-year term.

The case grew out of an investigation by the prosecutor's office's Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit, prosecutors said. Police searched a property on North Pennsylvania Avenue in Atlantic City on Jan. 9, 2025, and a room at the Super 8 Motel in the city on Jan. 23, 2025.

According to prosecutors, investigators found that Andrews went back and forth between Brooklyn and Atlantic City and used both places to make and sell drugs in the city, specifically cocaine and methamphetamine.

Andrews was arrested in Atlantic City on Jan. 23, 2025, and has been held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since then, prosecutors said.

At the time of the Atlantic City offenses, Andrews had several pending drug distribution charges in Kings County, New York, according to the prosecutor's office. The release did not say how those cases have been resolved.
